CBSE To Reconduct Exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to re-conduct the examinations for Economics (Class 12th) and Mathematics (for Class 10).Students appeared for the Class 10 maths paper on Wednesday while the Class 12 Economics paper was held on March 26. As per the CBSE guidelines, if a leak is proved then the board has to re-conduct the exam.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued a circular today informing about the re-examination and said dates and other details for it would be posted on the board's website.The Class 12 Economics and Class 10 Maths examinations will be re-conducted and the dates will be announced within a week, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on Wednesday.

The decision follows complaints of paper leaks.

CBSE Class 10, Class 12 Board Exam 2018:

This year, more than 28 lakh candidates are appearing for class 10 and 12 board examination at various test centres across the nation.

Total number of students:

A total of 16,38,428 candidates have registered for class 10 examination, while 11,86,306 candidates have registered for class 12 examinations.

Test centres:

The Class 10 board exam is being held at 4,453 centres across India and 78 centres outside India. Similarly, for class 12, the board exam is held at 4,138 centres in India and 71 centres abroad.

DETAILS OF EXAM FOR WHICH RE-EXAMINATION WILL BE HELD:

  • Class 12: Economics - 25th April 2018

  • Class 10: Mathematics - To Be Held in July

As per the schedule, the Class 10 board examination began from March 5 and will continue till April 4, 2018.

The CBSE issued a notice with reference to the two papers: “The Board has taken cognisance of certain happenings in the conduct of examinations as are being reported. With the view to upholding the sanctity of the Board examinations and in the interest of fairness to the students, the Board has decided to re-conduct the examinations...,” it said.

It added, “Dates of fresh examinations shall be posted on the CBSE website within a week.”

HRD minister Prakash Javadekar assured there would be no further leaks of paper in the ongoing examinations. The minister said "CBSE will put in place stronger mechanism to ensure no further paper leak happens." He said "The people or gang responsible for this would be brought to book." He then added that reports of paper leak has come in only from a few schools in Delhi.
